Walks are arranged from April through to October, if there are leaders available to lead them, with the traditional Christmas Carol Service walk in December. Further details will be published in the newsletters, and on this website as they become available.

Suggested minimum donation for each walk: £3 per person.

Walks have been arranged as follows:

WEDNESDAY 24 APRIL• Walk in South Suffolk • Start at 10.00am

Led by John Newland (01206 546924, mobile 07754 841066)

A walk of about 5¼ miles. Meet at the White Horse pub, Mill Green, Edwardstone CO10 5PX (NB this is a few yards south of the pub), OS ref TL952428. There will be an opportunity to visit Groton Church with connections to the Winthrop family. Please support the pub after the ramble.

WEDNESDAY 15 MAY • Walk in and around Stoke-by-Nayland, Polstead, and the Box Valley area • Start at 1.30pm

Led by Anne Middleton (01206 263585)

A walk of about 4½ miles, taking about 2½ hours. Walkers should meet at Stoke-by-Nayland Recreation Ground car park in School Street, which is directly opposite the Primary School (postcode CO6 4QY, OS 996364). Parking is free; stout footwear will be essential. The walk will allow you to enjoy the gentle scenery of the Box Valley, but you will also discover views from some of the hilliest countryside in Suffolk as well as some woodland. The terrain includes paths, tracks and some minor roads. As far as the organiser is aware, there are a few gates and stiles, which should not be too difficult to negotiate.

At the end of the walk, by her kind invitation, tea and cake will be available at Joan Sheppard’s house.

Members and their guests are welcome on walks, as are well behaved dogs on leads.
